His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has given the green light to the strategic plan of the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects and approved designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, poised to become the world’s largest upon completion.

The ambitious project, estimated at Dhs128 billion ($34 billion), will significantly enhance Dubai’s aviation capacity, with the new terminal expected to accommodate a staggering 260 million passengers annually.

During his visit to the Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.

The visionary leader emphasized, “Today, we approved the designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport and initiated construction of the facility as part of Dubai Aviation Corporation’s strategic vision. Al Maktoum International Airport will boast the world’s largest capacity, handling up to 260 million passengers, five times more than Dubai International Airport’s current capacity. All operations at Dubai International Airport will gradually transition to Al Maktoum International in the coming years.”

The new terminal is set to feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, incorporating cutting-edge aviation technologies to revolutionize the passenger experience. The strategic location of the airport within Dubai South will spur economic growth, attracting leading companies in the logistics and air transport sectors and providing housing for over a million residents.
